Gurlll, Stay Thankful For Never Experiencing These Makeup-Gone-Wrong Moments

Cosmetic products are supposed to make a person look prettier than they already are, but as per these anecdotes, there's more to it than that. We think it also brings out the not-so-pleasing sides of people who could be messy, or like to eat lip balms, or apply makeup on their face in such a way that it makes the spectators wonder if they have done it on purpose or were dared to make themselves look silly.

Well, we suggest connecting the device with the TV to enjoy these photos on a bigger screen because this read is going to be worth it! Browse these weird, witty, hilarious, and mindless stories that tell us that looks can indeed be deceiving, and it can't even help us know how hygienic a person is!

Keep Out Of Cat's Reach

Let's admit that cats are a notorious breed. They rarely listen to their owners! Instead, they do whatever they want and act like the royalties of the house. Take this incident, for example, where the owner shared that her cat loves makeup more than anything.

Her furry friend would use its tongue as a blender, lick the pressed powder box empty, and then apply it on itself. Wow, such a fancy feline, right? What's even more interesting is that the bronze color blends and looks more appealing on her cat's white fur than on the lady's skin, as if it was meant exclusively for the cat!

Tipsy Tales

We all deserve to have fun on weekends, but some people end up having a bit too much adventure. For instance, this woman had a few extra shots she could handle and ended up ruining her expensive lipstick. It may sound hilarious, but it's a sad story only makeup lovers will understand.

The young lady wrote words of appreciation for everyone that came to the party on a public toilet stall with her branded lip tint and then re-applied it on her lips. Not only was that a waste of the product but the girl literally plastered germs on her face! Eww!

When Manners Get Brushed Away

Beauty brands, like Claire's, offer a diverse range of products targeting almost every age group. So naturally, it is exciting to shop at such places but do the workers also have a fun experience there? We aren't so sure after reading this post.

One of the staff shared that because their cosmetic brushes are of premium quality, people keep using them repeatedly all over their faces but put them back on the stall. Thus, they have to keep spraying sanitizer on them, though we know it doesn't eliminate 100% of germs. Well, trying before buying is ideal, but there's a way of testing things. If only trials were paid!

Edible Lipglosses?

Usually, lipglosses are available in two categories - strongly scented or unscented, and if a person carries the former one, chances are someone can ask for a taste of it. It sounds disgusting, but according to this snapshot, it's true.

A girl carried blueberry-flavored gloss to her school, and her bus mate persistently asked to borrow it for a taste and then return it. We understand those heavenly fragrances are inviting, but we aren't sure they're edible. Since her friend was so keen on eating it, she had to give her the pack forever. It's not even worth asking back!

Two-In-One Lipstick

We sometimes take the expiration dates for granted and keep using a product even after the deadline as long as the colors and oils look all right. This lady could have also done the same had it not been for change in the appearance of her favorite red lip shade.

The young woman had lipstick from Kimmel for over a year, she didn't use it much, yet it turned from a warm red tone to black. So what's the moral of the story? Drugstore items may be cheap, but only because their lifecycle is short, so finish it up quickly before the money goes to waste!

Lick Ice Creams Not Brushes

We apologize for this one in advance! Folks, saving money is one thing, and being disgusting is another. Somehow, this lady doesn't know the difference between the two since she licks her eyeshadow brushes to clean them instead of using a wipe cloth or micellar water. Ugh, germs!

No matter how we rationalize, we just don't understand why someone would put themselves in danger to save a few bucks. After all, cosmetic products are mostly made up of chemicals, and prolonged consumption can harm the body beyond imagination. Somebody, please tell this woman before it's too late!

Get It Out Of Our Hair

There was once a record-breaking makeup palette released, but people started complaining that there's hair in their eyeshadow. Yes, not just tiny bristles but something longer like human hair. Nobody wants that, so this lady who also got a faulty pack sadly had to throw away the whole thing.

Cosmetics are not just about enhancing beauty or creating art, but those colorful palettes are also pleasing to the human eyes. A freshly packed box brings happiness and refreshes a person's mood, so it's such a put-off when we find hair in them. What a waste of money!

The Struggle Is Real

Applying perfect winged-eyeliner is a skill one masters over time, especially if working with a liquid one. If the product gets too much on the eyelids, people end up looking like pandas, though not as cute as the gentle bear. Unfortunately, this lady had an even worse experience.

She was getting ready, all focused to look her best for the party, but suddenly the noise from a firework outside scared her, and she accidentally jabbed the brush in her eye. The woman's eye became red and hurt her for two days straight! Thank heavens there are sketch-pen eyeliners in the market!

Litterbox For Brushes

A litterbox isn't the place we are supposed to keep anything besides cat's litter, but here's someone who puts their makeup brushes close to the tray with pride. It looks like makeup organizers aren't their thing, or they are just not interested in putting in an effort.

According to her old roommate, the girl never even cleaned those products before applying makeup. How crazy is that! Well, however weird that may be, at least we are getting our daily dose of cringe and laughter from such silly acts. Let's hope those bacterias and germs didn't cause problems on her face!

Lash Man Standing

Let’s all admit it: eyelash curlers are a scary thing. We’re sure everyone feels that slight panic attack as we put the intimidating device so close to our eyeballs, right? Well, let’s strap on our seatbelts as we talk about this person who lived out our worst eyelash nightmare.

It turns out it is possible to pull out our eyelashes using these curlers! This unfortunate person was left with just a few stray strands on the right eye at probably the worst time for it to happen, the first week of high school! Good thing their glasses were able to somehow conceal the hairy situation!

Lipstick Lollipop

Most lipsticks look pretty enough to eat, and some even come in misleadingly delectable flavors. With that in mind, we all know not to give in to the urge to munch on these cosmetics, right? Sadly, there are people who just can’t resist the temptation.

This person thought she was in the clear when she rolled up her newly-bought lipstick to check it in the store before bringing it home. Imagine her surprise when she rolls it all the way up to reveal bite marks toward the bottom of the product! Maybe someone mistakenly thought they were in the candy aisle?

Mean Beads

Fair warning, the gentle scrubbing feeling from an exfoliating scrub can give us a false sense of cleanliness. Aside from being harmful to the environment, however, the microbeads on these products are also known to be abrasive and unsafe to use on the face.

This person had a terrible experience with these microbeads that serves as an effective lesson for everyone. After cleansing their face during their acne-prone younger days, a bead wandered in and got stuck in a pore. Not only did it clog her skin, but it turned into a painful cyst that had to be removed surgically. Yikes!

Can’t Take Their Eyes Off Of Glue

Glitter eyeshadow looks ethereal and makes a person feel like a mythical being, so who would be able to resist? This person, however, would probably think twice before reaching for the glittery product again after she had received a helpful tip from a professional makeup artist to use lash glue for the shimmering eyeshadow.

After trying it out for herself, what followed was probably panic as she found her eyes glued shut. What makes this story worse is that she was just 40 minutes away from an important midterm exam! We’ve all tried getting out of a difficult exam, but this certainly takes the cake!

Shining, Shimmering, Infected

We've all wanted to look like our favorite TV show characters, and when the hit drama Euphoria made waves several years ago, glitter makeup under the eye became a huge aesthetic. Just make sure to wash off all the product before falling asleep, as this person learned the hard way.

After they had fallen asleep, some of the glitters made their way inside the person's eye, the sharp edges wreaking havoc on one of the sensitive parts of the body. This resulted in a painful eye infection that kept them home from university for several days. We're just glad they're okay after this not-so-euphoric experience!

Eyeshadow That Stings

Children are clueless about allergies and adverse reactions from chemicals, which would be the guilt-free ticket of this little girl’s friend. We would understand if this young lady stayed away from eye makeup for a long time since what happened to her was harrowing.

One of the vulnerable parts of our faces is our eyelids because our skin is loose and thin. So, chemicals from makeup penetrate easily, which is why the area swell when someone allergic to makeup put on eyeshadow. Naturally, having nail polish with so many chemical solvents be dabbed on one’s eyelid would be extremely unpleasant. Good thing Nanna was there!

Someone Overshot

Has anyone heard women say they won’t go out of the house unless their eyebrows are on “fleek?” Well, that’s because, for most of our lady friends, eyebrows are one of the important parts of their faces, so they need to look groomed, shaped, and filled.

Grooming one’s brows start early, proven by this lady who tried plucking them during her younger years. It’s perfectly normal for young girls to have hair in between their brows, but when it’s time to groom, better let an adult or a professional do it first. Otherwise, a disaster like this could happen, and the quick fix would be drawing tadpole eyebrows!

Natural Beet-Colored Lips

There’s a reason why some people find cosmetic testers icky, and it’s because they can have disease-causing bacteria in them. Unfortunately, simply wiping makeup products after people used them won’t sanitize them, so it becomes the perfect breeding ground for icky germs.

Nevertheless, there are still people who are comfortable using testers, like this lady over here. Until her search for the perfect beet-colored lipstick cost her a lot of money after she ended up in the hospital. Our best guess is that the previous person who tried on the lipstick maybe has eaten something this woman was allergic to.

Pirate Beauty

People who are fascinated with pirates would have loved this experience, but definitely not this young lady. Since the teenage girl thought having complete makeup was necessary for tennis practice, she decided to apply some while in a moving vehicle, no matter how difficult it was.

Putting on lipsticks in a moving car is one thing, but applying mascara is a whole other level. The cosmetic product can poke one’s eye, and this teen has proven it in a rather painfully tragic way. At least she knew how careless her decision was as she looked back on it.

Free Lipstick

People who are intoxicated often do unthinkable things, like the kind they would never do when they are sober. A memory of a time she was zoned out comes back to this lady whenever she visits a famous cosmetics store, which we’re pretty sure is accompanied by a giggle or a cringe.

She was once tempted to pick up a Givenchy lipstick that she found on the ground simply because it was an expensive brand. Since inebriated people cannot think clearly, she almost kept the item! Good for her that she decided to leave it because the owner must have thrown it out for a good reason.

New Conditioner Required

There is a scientific reason why expiration dates exist on makeup and beauty products. One close look at the packaging of any product, and one will find a small number followed by the letter ‘m’. It shows how many months the product will stay fresh after the package has been opened.

This person was on their way to buy the conditioner they regularly use. They noticed that the shade was amiss but thought that the formula must have been upgraded or the scent must be different. Upon taking the product home, the picture became clear when the product exuded a foul smell. It was rotten and unfit for use!

Yearbook Age Makeup

As we said, every piece of makeup has an expiration date and should not be used for more than two years. Unless a particular makeup has some sentimental value or memory associated with it, there is no point in hoarding them for a long time at all.

This social media user was horrified to learn that their mother has been using products that are decades old, precisely speaking from her high school days. The lady has been having trouble with itchy eyes whenever she used mascara but never dug deep into it. It is quite cringe-worthy!

Oily Mess

Those who are using oil-based products need to be all the more careful about the storage and expiration dates of the items. As time goes by, the oil separates from the other chemicals in the product turning the makeup into an oily slur of goo.

This social media user was about to use an eye-shadow primer from the brand Benefit, then the importance of expiration date on makeup products dawned upon them. Upon squeezing the tube, all that came out was half a blob of pigment and half a blob of orange oil, completely separate from each other with a horrible smell!

Floor To Face Application

Experiencing the pandemic has made us conscious of hygienic habits like never before. Previously we believed in the five-second rule when it came to objects dropping onto the floor, but now we no longer have faith in such antics. We have become especially careful about putting anything near our faces, so this makes us shudder.

A social media user saw a lady drop a powder blush on the floor in a hair salon only to have another employee pick it up and restore it in the pan for the make-up artist to use. This is so unsanitary and completely breaks the trust of the customers who come for good service.

Trendy Makeup Product

Every year some makeup product or the other takes the market by storm, and everybody scrambles to get their hands on the new trend. Such was the scenario for this social media user in 2003 when she was in high school. The happening product then was the Lancome Juicy Tubes.

Lancome products are expensive and fascinating, but we reserve our judgments on this person's decision if she picked up a tube that she spotted on the bathroom floor. She argued that the product looked brand new and clean, and there should be no problem in keeping something one has found. We only hope she has washed the tube.

Brush And Blush

Nothing can separate women and their makeup kits; ever seen a lady empty their purse while searching for a house key or something? It is usually lip gloss, blush, and a different array of brushes. Speaking of brush, one must not dismiss the small size of this tool as it's pretty pricey!

Imagine the luck of this lady here when she got a free EcoTools blush brush on a night out. She's even luckier that her skin did not break out since she used something she randomly picked up. Nonetheless, someone's loss is another person's gain, but clean it first, okay?

Let Go Of The Old

Everyone has that person who can keep things for ages as it is allowed in some cases. Still, the only item one is allowed to hoard is wine, and we all agree. On the other hand, beauty products have a time limit. After all, what's fashionable now will be history next year.

This individual kept their mascara for decades even though they rarely use makeup. It is a record of some sort, but although it cost a fortune, the poster is right to discard it. After all, everything has an expiration date, and who knows what hidden dangers are in these ancient products!

Just Got Sty-led

Some allergies or colds can cause a stuffy nose leading to a lack of sense of smell, and this individual bore the brunt of this unfortunate symptom. Yes, makeup, like any other product, has a best-before indicator, but usually, a change of color or specific odor would be a warning not to use them.

Let's learn the lesson from this person who ended up getting a sty from applying a product that had gone stale. Yikes! Talk about seeing the side effects! She seems to be okay, though it would have been worse. Maybe the trick would be to check the expiry date next time.

Makeup Equals Time

Applying makeup can take up a significant portion of one's preparation time, as achieving a glowing look can take many steps. Men can attest to waiting for ages in the car for their lady to apply that last touch on their eyelashes and lips.

Well, this individual had a unique way of accomplishing this task with the ever so handy Avon wet-to-dry eyeliner pencils. The weird bit is that they were using their saliva. Luckily, they did not end up with an eye infection. So they get 9 out of 10 for their efforts - way to go, girl! Still, maybe rethink the process.

Beauty Expert Or Not?

Everyone walks into a beauty store believing that the person walking the isles or at the counter must be a professional in that area. However, this may not be the case on some occasions. In this scenario, the salesperson was misinformed or did not know better and was reluctant to accept new information.

One is left to wonder the state her beauty blender is in if it has never been washed. Most of us know that these sponges can harbor germs that can lead to skin breakouts, and a person would need to remove the previous product. In this case, the customer was indeed right!

Being Selfish Pays

Sometimes being too generous, even to those we hold dear, like family and friends, can land us in hot soup. Although one can break bread with their roommate without any single care in the world, some things like makeup and inner clothing are too sensitive and certainly not meant to be shared.

Our friend learned this lesson the hard way after deciding to indulge in being besties and apply some of their roomie's mascara. As fate had it, she only enjoyed looking like a Barbie doll for a short while before waking up with a pinky eye the next day.

Short-Term Romance Is Best

Although we just mentioned that some things like makeup are a bit too sensitive and should be kept to oneself, it's paramount not to grow too attached to that beloved lip gloss or mascara such that one ends up keeping it long after its expiry date.

This scenario paints the perfect picture where our buddy bought the iconic Maybelline Hollywood Red lipstick and just couldn't let go of it even after expiring because of its sentimental value. The wake-up call came one day when she opened it and found mold growing all over. Yikes!

Makeup And Pets Don't Blend

Everyone knows how beautiful and adorable pets can be, and we find ourselves allowing them entry to all sections of our houses and access to almost everything we own. Be warned nonetheless that not every personal item is meant to ever come in contact with one's lovely kitty or Chihuahua.

A perfect case in point is this loving lady who brings her kit to her sister's house so that they can apply makeup together for a drag show. Unfortunately, a basset hound in the home decides not to be left out and drools all over the eyeshadow palette. Although she managed to clean it, the scenario is still pretty disgusting.

Tools Need Pampering Too

We all enjoy how makeup revitalizes our skin and makes us walk with heads held high, super confident of our appearance. Nonetheless, we seem keen to wash our skin thoroughly and ensure that our products are stored neatly, but we seldom pause to return the favor to the tools that make it possible, like our brushes.

This person left their flat foundation brush for too long without washing it to clean the product. She would learn the art of showing gratitude to one's benefactors the hard way when green mold grew all over it. Remember, anything that goes on the face must be cleaned!

Go Slow On Freebies

Beauty companies desperately want us to know and love their products, and that's why they provide us with testers to give us a glimpse of their items in action. Although this might be a person's golden chance to try out that expensive product for free, it is always wise to control one's urges.

For instance, our two buddies in this photo had a full buffet of cool beautifiers to experiment with, and while one went all in putting a full face of makeup, the other was cautious and only put stuff on her arm. So we can all guess who woke up with a pinky eye the next day!

Respect The System

Having an emergency makeup kit is a lifesaver since accidents happen, and it's always nice to have a backup plan. Even so, there's a method to the system, and it's paramount we respect the fundamentals. This fellow's friend has the right idea to some degree.

They have the foundation for those rainy days, but that's all there is. We figured a makeup brush or sponge is crucial to applying this stuff, but this lady has found a way around the system. Instead of a brush, she uses her hands to apply the product to her face. As for the result, we'll let her friend's words tell the story.

Red Faced

Acne can cause immense discomfort and lower a person's self-esteem. Many people suffering from the condition will do anything for a few hours of respite, and this lady shows the lengths people will go to for some salvation. Whatever it takes to get rid of the spots.

This lady chose to apply a healthy application of benzoyl peroxide to fight off the spots, and things didn't go as planned. She ended up red-faced both literally and figuratively as her skin started peeling off. In her own words, she looked like a tomato and had to tell people she was suffering from a sunburn. We recommend a dermatologist instead, guys.

Tough Luck

As luck would have it, this lady won the jackpot by opening the right box of lipstick to act as a tester. Unfortunately, the prize in question was lipstick with a bug embedded in it. This would have painted a nasty picture of the store's hygiene standards.

It's probably only a factory defect, but we have reason to believe most customers would be filing complaints if they encountered an insect in their makeup. This was a fortunate incident, and we hope many stores will be more vigilant when it comes to their makeup products in the future. After all, their sales are at stake!

Clean The Blender

Sanitation is crucial for beauty products, but many people are unaware that even beauty blenders need some love. They might not look like it, but these sponges need to be washed regularly to maintain their pristine conditions and to keep germs at bay.

This lady bought her friend one of these essential items, but alas, the gifted person didn't know it had to be cleaned. For information, this item collects make-up and bacteria after several uses, and we wonder how she was still comfortable using it. We hear that some of these blenders grow mold from the inside after a while. Yikes!

Brush Stiff As A Brick

Makeup brushes are like paintbrushes; they need all the care and attention to maintain their effectiveness. So yes, cosmetic brushes need to be cleaned too. If they aren't properly maintained, the results might not be as lovely as one would expect.

Firstly, the brushes will dry up and become hard, just like wet paintbrushes. It's just as rough as it sounds, and we don't think putting on powder blush with stiff bristles is any fun. According to this image, this person's mum had had her makeup brushes for a while without cleaning them. The poor items were super still, and they must've been beyond salvation!

Risky And Icky Eyeliner Hack

Now, here is a good friend, in our opinion. If anything, this is a buddy that should have been treated out to lunch after throwing out an inappropriately used pen. Caring for someone means that we don't let them do crazy things such as these, after all.

Imagine what would happen in case of one wrong move while using a pen as an eyeliner stick. Besides, ink meant for writing should be nowhere near anyone's eyes, considering just how sensitive these parts of our bodies are. It's just eyeliner; for heaven's sake, we can most definitely do without it.

Lip Or Brow Gloss?

We're confused. We don't understand what one would be trying to achieve by using lip gloss on their eyebrows. This would have made more sense if this person was using the gloss on their cheeks, but brows, how? It certainly doesn't make them fuller.

Maybe it's for holding the strands in place, which would still be extremely uncomfortable, considering just how shiny, thick-textured, and greasy this makeup product is. It is referred to as lip gloss for a reason, and we sometimes have to be content to use things just for their intended purpose.

When Dry Is Better Than Oily

Confession; oil-based makeup products are our least favorite kind. We get the fact that they’re primarily meant for people with dry skin and give a shiny look with a fresh-faced effect, but they sometimes do more harm than good. So it comes as no surprise to us that oil had clogged these eye shadow plates.

Now imagine the kind of impact that such an item would be having on one’s skin pores. The thought of it only is disgusting, huh? Just because they’re highly recommended merchandise does not mean that we need to be purchasing them.

Spit For Added Moisture

Anyone that’s into makeup would know that some products such as cake eyeliner and mascara are prone to drying up after a few weeks of use. Even so, spitting into such products as this girl does certainly not how one moistens them up.

We bet that any person reading this who has ever used makeup can barely hold back their tears at this point. Oil, ladies and gentlemen; that’s what’s needed to restore moisture to such items. Don’t go around spitting into things used on the face. For one, it’s gross, and two, there’s always a better way if we just ask around.

Achoo, Bye Boo!

We don’t care if someone is too broke to afford a new eye shadow palette or if they’re the only ones using it; a product that has been sneezed into belongs in the trash can. Likewise, makeup isn’t that essential that one couldn’t live without it.

People, come on, we’re all about getting value for our money, but this isn’t the way. We can’t even imagine the other things that this girl simply shrugged over and ignored fixing. This isn’t just wrong hygienically speaking, but it’s really not fair to oneself. Let’s value ourselves more; we all deserve it!

Getting The Perfect Look

On the quest to getting the perfect makeup outline, many people use Q-tips to correct any mistakes or even get the precise shape. Still, with all the products available, including the makeup remover, this person decided to go the natural way and use something close to them.

This lady claims that since it's her body, after all, it's okay to swab the Q-tip in her mouth and use it to fix liquid liner marks. We don't know what to think about her method, but this is pretty disgusting. She may feel no regrets, but we certainly feel awful!

The Glow-Up

Many ladies, especially those who use makeup products, do so because they want to enhance their beauty and get themselves glowing. Unfortunately, this lady took the glowing part a bit too far when she mistakenly used the wrong product on a client while working at Laura Mercier.

Instead of using the setting powder she'd planned to use, she picked up the highlighter, which left the customer with a bright and shiny face. While the whole thing was somewhat a nightmare, the client was actually happy with the highlighter and bought it! Talk about the perfect redemption!

Let's Fix This

As a makeup artist, knowing what the client wants is the ideal way to know what product and method will be appropriate for the look they're going for. That's what this cosmetic expert did for her client of the day, a bridesmaid who requested to have defined brows.

After the work was done, the beauty took a trip to the bathroom, and twenty minutes later, she emerged, looking a tad different. It turns out that she'd tried to fix her brows using black gel liner that got her frons looking shiny. We're glad the makeup artist was available to correct all that mess; otherwise, the wedding would've been a disaster.

The Secret Invasion

Imagine spending the whole day at a wedding, knowing that the makeup artist did her job perfectly, only for the pictures to come back and one's left wondering when did the aliens land? Well, a backstory, one artist was tasked with doing the cosmetic touchups for her friend's wedding.

The bride's niece had some bit of sunburns from a track event before the wedding, and the complexion had to be fixed. In her wisdom, the makeup lady did some bit of color mixing that included using a green redness corrector. Surprisingly, the results were hilarious as the wedding photos told a different, extraterrestrial-like story while everything looked good.

Perfect Lippy Liner, No?

While some people might prefer not to use makeup products, they would probably still go for lipstick or balm to keep their lips moisturized. Also, who doesn't like some perfect lip plumper for themselves? It's a subtle fashion statement that never goes unnoticed.

This lady went a bit overboard with her choice of lip liner color, though; brown doesn't necessarily look good on the mouth. Still, considering that it was the only piece of makeup product she had on, it definitely stood out, but we don't want to imagine the stares she got when she stepped out of the house!
